A very good chance for a goal. Damien Sargent took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ian Greaves, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Louie Strong in the 39th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Damien Sargent prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 40th minute, Ian Greaves ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Damien Sargent was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-3. Eddy Cooke fired away a difficult shot at goal in the 44th minute. He almost succeeded, but the ball went over. It was a very nice shot. If Louie Strong had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 45th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Ian Greaves received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 48th minute. Damien Sargent tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After the first half geograph FC were leading 0-3. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Alf Bullard was the one to do the kick off. After a rather tough play, Hillhead City's Eddy Cooke got a free kick in the 55th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ian Greaves in the 58th minute of play forced Hillhead City's goalkeeper Damien Sargent to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 79th minute, Ian Greaves managed to get in a good position for a shot. geograph FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Ian Greaves was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Damien Sargent breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Alf Bullard hit a great freekick 80 minutes into the match. If Ian Greaves had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 93rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Louie Strong fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 96th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Damien Sargent having to interfere. Hillhead City's Damien Sargent played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ian Greaves in the 98th minute of play.
