In the 9th minute the ball was on its way in behind Southampton fc's goalkeeper Ronan Duxbury, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. 12 minutes into the match, Southampton fc's goal looked a bit too open when Jerome Davis came free, but Ronan Duxbury reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by CJ Sheldon in the 13th minute of play forced Southampton fc's goalkeeper Ronan Duxbury to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Ronan Duxbury didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Brad Harris went, in the 15th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-1 was the resulting score. After 18 played minutes Southampton fc got a freekick which was hit by Marlon Sands. If Jerome Davis had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 23rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. The attack was good, but when CJ Sheldon in the 23rd minute was about to shoot he didn't kick quite good enough and the ball went high over goal. Laurence Hawke could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 28th minute of the match, but Jon Nash made a huge save. In the 30th minute, Southampton fc's Laurence Hawke ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Jon Nash. Jon Nash yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-1. In the 33rd minute CJ Sheldon shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ronan Duxbury saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Laurence Hawke sent away a hard shot on goal in the 35th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The first half was very even, with the score at 1-1 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Laurence Hawke was the one to do the kick off. Jon Nash showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Laurence Hawke, who was totally free with the ball in the 52nd minute. Jon Nash took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Laurence Hawke, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After having played for 60 minutes, CJ Sheldon managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Sutton Coldfield's supporters crossed their fingers, but CJ Sheldon was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Jerome Davis struck a weak shot in the 64th minute. Ronan Duxbury didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Sutton Coldfield. Ronan Duxbury didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from CJ Sheldon went, in the 66th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-2 was the resulting score. A hard shot by Ivor Hicks from long distance, 72 minutes into the match, got Ronan Duxbury's attention. Through a fast twist with his body, he could stop the ball from going in on his right side. 74 minutes into the match, Sutton Coldfield's goal looked a bit too open when Ronny Kirkpatrick came free, but Jon Nash reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 77th minute Marlon Sands shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jon Nash saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Ronny Kirkpatrick fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 78th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jon Nash having to interfere. Sean Flower received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 83rd minute. Jon Nash tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Marlon Sands recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 85th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Jon Nash showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Laurence Hawke in the 88th minute of the match. Ronan Duxbury took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Jerome Davis, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. CJ Sheldon fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 95th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ronan Duxbury having to interfere. In the 96th minute, Sutton Coldfield's Jerome Davis ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Ronan Duxbury. Ronan Duxbury yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-3. Sutton Coldfield's supporters were very happy and cheered loudly because their team had won after a very close match.
