Shawn Holland kicked well hit freekick during the 23rd minute of the match. When Kristopher Fairs fell near the penalty area in the 27th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Clanfield's protests and gave Kristopher Fairs a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of Luton Town FC booed when Clanfield was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 27 match minutes in a wonderful position. Kristopher Fairs didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 31st minute Kristopher Fairs shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jim Rowell saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Matty Pearch had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 33rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Matty Pearch received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 43rd minute. Jim Rowell tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Felix Chambers showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Brad King, who was totally free with the ball in the 46th minute.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Luke Knightley was the one to do the kick off. The audience thought a goal was coming when Kristopher Fairs got free with Jim Rowell in the 79th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. A sloppy throw-in by Archie Aspinall in the 82nd minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by Luton Town FC's Brad King. The Clanfield fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Felix Chambers should have stopped the shot. When the referee ended the match the Luton Town FC players were able to celebrate. They had won a fair victory and recieved the ovations of their fans.
