Spectators: 7487 (Terracing: 5616, Seating: 1722, VIP seats: 149) Jimmy King started the match with the kick off in front of an excited audience. Bob Trusswell fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 9th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ivor Clement having to interfere. If Jimmy King had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 11th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 12th match minute, FC Kelsier was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Conal Brookman to maneuver through the defense. Ivor Clement showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Conal Brookman, who was totally free with the ball in the 14th minute. After 18 played minutes, Real Nickos's Conan Warner shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Andre Jenkinson came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Real Nickos reached it. After 29 played minutes Real Nickos got a freekick which was hit by Pete Lucas. When Bob Trusswell came up free with the goalie in the 31st minute, the FC Kelsier fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Bob Trusswell couldn't finish the play. Ivor Clement showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Bob Trusswell in the 33rd minute of the match. Ivor Clement stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Wayne Crichton's shot from short distance in the 34th minute. In the 36th minute, Bob Trusswell got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After a rather tough play, Real Nickos's Vince Webster got a free kick in the 37th minute. Bob Trusswell fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 41st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ivor Clement having to interfere. After having played for 48 minutes, Wayne Crichton managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. FC Kelsier's supporters crossed their fingers, but Wayne Crichton was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Bob Trusswell was the one to do the kick off. Matty Alcock hit a great freekick 52 minutes into the match. Ivor Clement was a little too slow when Bob Trusswell got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 65th minute. The score was now 0-1. If Wayne Crichton had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 70th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Andre Jenkinson made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jimmy King in the 83rd minute of play. Andre Jenkinson showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Phil Alsop, who was totally free with the ball in the 84th minute. Phil Alsop hit a great freekick 86 minutes into the match. Real Nickos's Vince Webster suffered a concussion after 92 minutes and had to leave the field. After 92 minutes, Tyler Perkins mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the FC Kelsier and the Real Nickos players grew even worse after the yellow card. A collision led to FC Kelsier getting a freekick after 93 minutes play. Tyler Perkins hit a great ball. When the referee blew the final whistle, you could see the dissatisfaction in the FC Kelsier players' eyes. They were disappointed they hadn't taken more from the game.
