Kasey Venables's shot from long distance in the 16th minute was not bad at all, but Ely FC's Warren Darling knew what was happening and pushed the ball into his arms just before it hit the right post. 22 minutes into the game, Conan Wright was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Ely FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Nottingham Drillerz the free kick. The supporters of Nottingham Drillerz booed when Ely FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 22 match minutes in a wonderful position. Conan Wright didn't get a good kick on the ball. Warren Darling was out of position in the 26 minute of play, and Rueben Mawson capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Rueben Mawson really showed his touch with that goal: 2-0. Warren Darling showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Rueben Mawson, who was totally free with the ball in the 30th minute. Nottingham Drillerz's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. Through an outstanding action, after 40 minutes, Warren Darling successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. A hard shot 45 in the game by Rueben Mawson from a close distance when the talented Warren Darling managed to make a qualified save. Ely FC's players were relieved.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Chesney Dunning made a kick off. Zack Gough made a fantastic save in the 52nd minute, when Danny Dawes sent off a good shot on target. If Chesney Dunning had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 54th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Danny Dawes could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 56th minute of the match, but Zack Gough made a huge save. Chesney Dunning sent away a hard shot on goal in the 58th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Zack Gough took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Freddy Newland, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Nottingham Drillerz's defense didn't have a chance, in the 62nd minute, when Conan Wright scored to the left of an out of position Zack Gough, making the score, 2-1. 65 minutes into the match, Nottingham Drillerz's goalkeeper Zack Gough had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Danny Dawes. Joe Trusswell hit a great freekick 67 minutes into the match. In the 73rd minute, Thomas Phelps hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 85thth minute of the game Rueben Mawson who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Ely FC's Warren Darling was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Danny Dawes received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 91st minute. Zack Gough tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere.
