The Ely FC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-0. Warren Darling showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Vinnie Constable in the 36th minute of the match. If Vinnie Constable had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 38th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Danny Dawes sent away a hard shot on goal in the 42nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Charlie Beverley's late challenge caught a UMA-J37's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Charlie Beverley helped the player get up and apologised.

Warren Darling showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jamal Cousins, who was totally free with the ball in the 55th minute. In the 57th minute the ball was on its way in behind UMA-J37's goalkeeper Rex Bilham, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. 62 minutes into the game, Keith Sercombe was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player.
