The audience thought a goal was coming when Ed Norton got free with Devon Morgan in the 24th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After 26 minutes of play, Tottenham Hotspur's Philip Paine made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Tommy Wittingham was left in no man's land by his defense there! Dane West kicked well hit freekick during the 31st minute of the match. After a defensive mix-up in Mancunian Spurs's zone, Brynn Rothwell stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Tommy Wittingham came out of the goal and Brynn Rothwell tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. John Paul Lister kicked well hit freekick during the 38th minute of the match. With 42 minutes on the clock, John Paul Lister commited a dangerous tackle. The referee had no choice but to show him the red card. After a rather tough play, Tottenham Hotspur's John Paul Lister got a free kick in the 43rd minute. After having played for 44 minutes, Gus Parry managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Mancunian Spurs's supporters crossed their fingers, but Gus Parry was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After the first half Tottenham Hotspur were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

If Philip Paine had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 52nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 53rd minute, Brynn Rothwell reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Tommy Wittingham. The goal made the score 0-2. Philip Paine received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 57th minute. Tommy Wittingham tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Brynn Rothwell had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 61st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Todd Boyce could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 64th minute of the match, but Tommy Wittingham made a huge save. Tommy Wittingham was out of position in the 65 minute of play, and Philip Paine capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Philip Paine really showed his touch with that goal: 0-3. In the 70th minute of the match, Pedro Hardcastle tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Tommy Wittingham saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. Philip Paine fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 80th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Tommy Wittingham having to interfere. In the 82nd minute, Brynn Rothwell got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Philip Paine was extremely unlucky when he, in the 83rd minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. If Dane West had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 85th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Philip Paine sent away a hard shot on goal in the 88th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Tottenham Hotspur's Devon Morgan played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ed Norton in the 93rd minute of play. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. Tottenham Hotspur had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
