After 17 played minutes, Millwall FC's Russell Bonds shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Dominik Mortlock came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Millwall FC reached it. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Archie Monk during the 20th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After a rather tough play, Millwall FC's Archie Monk got a free kick in the 20th minute. Olly Ferdinand made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Phil McGrath in the 21st minute of play. Carl Dobson blasted a shot towards the goal in the 25th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Olly Ferdinand having to make a save. After 28 minutes, Garry Hayles mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Millwall FC and the Horsham AFC players grew even worse after the yellow card. After a rather tough play, Millwall FC's Garry Hayles got a free kick in the 28th minute. In the 31st minute, Malcolm Slade ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Olly Ferdinand was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. A collision led to Millwall FC getting a freekick after 35 minutes play. Quentin Norton hit a great ball. Horsham AFC's Phil McGrath got a good chance for a goal in the 36th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 46 minutes into the match, Horsham AFC's Phil McGrath sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Olly Ferdinand narrowly saved just below the crossbar. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Carl Dobson in the 47th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Olly Ferdinand saved Millwall FC from getting behind. The Millwall FC players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Horsham AFC were winning 0-1.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Gaz Warburton to strike the kick off in the second half. In the 56th minute, Gaz Warburton got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Carl Dobson sent away a hard shot on goal in the 60th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When the match had gone on for 62 minutes, Phil McGrath put it in 0-2 from a short distance just to the right of Olly Ferdinand. After a defensive mix-up in Millwall FC's zone, Phil McGrath stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Olly Ferdinand came out of the goal and Phil McGrath tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Lucas Bartlett fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 70th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Dominik Mortlock having to interfere. In the 74thth minute of the game Carl Dobson who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Millwall FC's Olly Ferdinand was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Gaz Warburton received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 76th minute. Dominik Mortlock tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Lucas Bartlett had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 77th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Millwall FC's Olly Ferdinand proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 82nd minute of the match, managed to save Millwall FC from getting a goal against them. Phil McGrath sent away a hard shot on goal in the 83rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Olly Ferdinand made an important save on a dangerous shot by Carl Dobson in the 85th minute. After a rather tough play, Millwall FC's Archie Monk got a free kick in the 86th minute. Phil McGrath received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 94th minute. Olly Ferdinand tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Quentin Norton's late challenge caught a Horsham AFC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Quentin Norton helped the player get up and apologised. A hard shot by Terry Kent from long distance, 97 minutes into the match, got Olly Ferdinand's attention. Through a fast twist with his body, he could stop the ball from going in on his right side. The Millwall FC supporters were disappointed that their team didn't take anything from the match, despite matching Horsham AFC's performance. The match ended with a win for Horsham AFC.
