Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) Aldershot's Matthew Bonds started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. 5 minutes into the match, Noel Chilton had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Teddy Sparks. IceTigers's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Noel Chilton was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-0. After 7 played minutes Aldershot got a freekick which was hit by Vic Almond. An unexpectedly hard shot by Matthew Bonds in the 10th minute of play forced IceTigers's goalkeeper Teddy Sparks to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 11th minute Matt Durrant shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Gerry Cadwallader saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. With an all-out effort, Aldershot's Teddy Sparks threw himself towards the right post 13 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Vic Almond, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Matt Durrant sent away a hard shot on goal in the 14th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Matt Durrant had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 17th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Matt Durrant in the 21st minute of play forced Aldershot's goalkeeper Gerry Cadwallader to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After a defensive mix-up in IceTigers's zone, Vic Almond stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Teddy Sparks came out of the goal and Vic Almond tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Grant Haskell fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 29th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Gerry Cadwallader having to interfere. Charlie Rush struck a weak shot in the 33rd minute. Gerry Cadwallader didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for IceTigers. Matt Durrant sent away a hard shot on goal in the 37th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Gerry Cadwallader showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Matt Durrant in the 41st minute of the match. After a defensive mix-up in Aldershot's zone, Grant Haskell stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Gerry Cadwallader came out of the goal and Grant Haskell tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After 46 minutes of play, Aldershot's Noel Chilton made it 2-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Teddy Sparks was left in no man's land by his defense there! Af the end of the first half the score was 2-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.
Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Matt Durrant to make the kick off. With his leg Gerry Cadwallader managed to avoid a goal in the 53rdth minute, when IceTigers's Matt Durrant fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. When Vic Almond fell near the penalty area in the 53rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Aldershot's protests and gave Vic Almond a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to IceTigers getting a freekick after 55 minutes play. Andy Gilchrist hit a great ball. After 57 played minutes IceTigers got a freekick which was hit by Charlie Rush. Teddy Sparks showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Matthew Bonds, who was totally free with the ball in the 58th minute. Gerry Cadwallader made a fantastic save in the 59th minute, when Grant Haskell sent off a good shot on target. If Andy Gilchrist had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 60th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 64th minute, Vic Almond made a precise shot to the right of Teddy Sparks. IceTigers's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 3-0. An unexpectedly hard shot by Lance Kitchen in the 67th minute of play forced IceTigers's goalkeeper Teddy Sparks to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When Noel Chilton came up free with the goalie in the 74th minute, the Aldershot fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Noel Chilton couldn't finish the play. Matt Durrant recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 76th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Andy Gilchrist in the 77th minute of play forced Aldershot's goalkeeper Gerry Cadwallader to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. A collision led to Aldershot getting a freekick after 78 minutes play. Graeme Amos hit a great ball. Grant Haskell might have been able to make a better finish in the 80th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Gerry Cadwallader. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Grant Haskell ran back to his position shaking his head. Teddy Sparks took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Matthew Bonds, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 85thth minute of the game Matthew Bonds who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but IceTigers's Teddy Sparks was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Matt Durrant fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 86th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Gerry Cadwallader having to interfere. In the 88th minute Vic Almond shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Teddy Sparks saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 91 minutes into the match, Noel Chilton notched a goal, 4-0, to the right of IceTigers's Teddy Sparks. Teddy Sparks was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. In the 94th minute Noel Chilton shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Teddy Sparks saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Gerry Cadwallader was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Grant Haskell showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 4-1 in the 95 minute of play. The Aldershot players were eager to celebrate when the final whistle sounded. They had somehow managed to win, even though the away team had held the majority of the possession.
