Spectators: 7159 (Terracing: 5659, Seating: 1450, VIP seats: 50) The sun was shining, the grass was green and the audience cheered when Leigh Welch got the match started through his kick off. If Leigh Welch had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 5th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Leigh Welch sent away a hard shot on goal in the 8th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Jay Wybrow fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 12th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Darius Brindley having to interfere. Darius Brindley made a fantastic save in the 14th minute, when Jay Wybrow sent off a good shot on target. Pierce Curtis made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Tommy Coulshaw in the 16th minute of play. Jay Wybrow kicked a quick shot right in front of the goal in the 19thth minute. Though ot was a great shot Eston's keeper Darius Brindley was sill able to block leaving the score board unchanged. Jay Wybrow received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 21st minute. Darius Brindley tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Kinsella Athletic's Leigh Welch got a good chance for a goal in the 28th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Tommy Coulshaw sent away a hard shot on goal in the 31st minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Leigh Welch received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 34th minute. Darius Brindley tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Pierce Curtis showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Tommy Coulshaw, who was totally free with the ball in the 40th minute. 46 minutes into the match, Eston's goal looked a bit too open when Leigh Welch came free, but Darius Brindley reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Vincent Welsh sent away a hard shot on goal in the 47th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The score stood at 0-0 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Tommy Coulshaw stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. In the 54th minute, Eston's Tommy Coulshaw dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 0-1. Johnnie Holland could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 58th minute of the match, but Pierce Curtis made a huge save. Leigh Welch recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 60th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After 64 minutes, Jay Wybrow made it 1-1 with a short kick to the right side. Eston's Darius Brindley tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. In the 68th minute Leigh Welch shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Darius Brindley saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Tommy Coulshaw struck a weak shot in the 73rd minute. Pierce Curtis didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Eston. The audience thought a goal was coming when Vincent Welsh got free with Pierce Curtis in the 75th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Pierce Curtis showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Tommy Coulshaw in the 76th minute of the match. Vincent Welsh fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 77th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Pierce Curtis having to interfere. Gerry Dry took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 84th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Pierce Curtis. Kinsella Athletic's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Eston's Darius Brindley played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jay Wybrow in the 93rd minute of play.
