Philip Millman hit a great ball. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Shane Hornsby in the 5th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Brendon Shepherd prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Sammy Perryman received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 7th minute. Wesley Wellings tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Wesley Wellings made an important save on a dangerous shot by Vic Bowen in the 9th minute. After a defensive mix-up in EDGE United's zone, Shane Hornsby stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Brendon Shepherd came out of the goal and Shane Hornsby tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. A collision led to EDGE United getting a freekick after 19 minutes play. Verne Bedford hit a great ball. If Shane Hornsby had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 21st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 29th minute of the match Vern Kinsey sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Brendon Shepherd skillfully saved the ball. Wesley Wellings took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Vic Bowen, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 38 minutes into the game, one of EDGE United:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. After 44 minutes, Brandon Godsall mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Rowner and the EDGE United players grew even worse after the yellow card. After a rather tough play, Rowner's Brandon Godsall got a free kick in the 44th minute. The supporters of EDGE United booed when Rowner was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 47 match minutes in a wonderful position. John-Paul Hardcastle didn't get a good kick on the ball. Sammy Perryman could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 48th minute of the match, but Wesley Wellings made a huge save. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Len Dunne was the one to do the kick off. Vic Bowen fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 52nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Wesley Wellings having to interfere. Through a fast twist with his body, he could stop the ball from going in on his right side. Wesley Wellings showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Sammy Perryman in the 71st minute of the match. In the 72nd match minute, Rowner was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Brandon Godsall to maneuver through the defense. Sammy Perryman scored 1-2 in the 75th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Wesley Wellings, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. In the 84th minute, Brandon Godsall hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Wesley Wellings came out of the goal in the 85th minute to try and stop a shot by EDGE United's Sammy Perryman. But to his dismay, Sammy Perryman quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-3. Brendon Shepherd took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Len Dunne, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When Shane Hornsby came up free with the goalie in the 91st minute, the Rowner fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Shane Hornsby couldn't finish the play.
