Shane Hornsby received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 38th minute. Steven Baxter tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The supporters of Rowner booed when Wycombe Wanderers F.C was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 41 match minutes in a wonderful position. Joshua Blower didn't get a good kick on the ball. Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Len Dunne to make the kick off. In the 88th match minute, Wycombe Wanderers F.C was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Lennie Houghton to maneuver through the defense. After 89 minutes of play, Rowner's Len Dunne made it 3-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Steven Baxter was left in no man's land by his defense there! In the 96th minute Shane Hornsby shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Steven Baxter saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Fred Doughty sent away a hard shot on goal in the 98th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Wycombe Wanderers F.C's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
