Denton United FC's Jude Whitworth played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cliff Evans in the 43rd minute of play. When the match had gone on for 45 minutes, Fred Doughty put it in 0-1 from a short distance just to the right of Jude Whitworth.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Keiran Reeve to make the kick off. Wycombe Wanderers F.C's Joshua Blower got a good chance for a goal in the 52nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 53 minutes into the game, Daryl Gilchrist was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Denton United FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Wycombe Wanderers F.C the free kick. The supporters of Wycombe Wanderers F.C booed when Denton United FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 53 match minutes in a wonderful position. Daryl Gilchrist didn't get a good kick on the ball. A collision led to Wycombe Wanderers F.C getting a freekick after 59 minutes play. Denis Carlick hit a great ball. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Denton United FC reached it. Steven Baxter took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Keiran Reeve, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Jude Whitworth came out of the goal in the 95th minute to try and stop a shot by Wycombe Wanderers F.C's Fred Doughty. But to his dismay, Fred Doughty quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-3. The Denton United FC supporters were disappointed that their team didn't take anything from the match, despite matching Wycombe Wanderers F.C's performance. The match ended with a win for Wycombe Wanderers F.C.
