Fraser Simms showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from John Paul Porter in the 10th minute of the match. Through an outstanding action, after 12 minutes, Fraser Simms successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. Dean Speight showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Marlon Grainger, who was totally free with the ball in the 13th minute. 15 minutes into the match, Marlon Grainger had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Dean Speight. Diss AFC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Marlon Grainger was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-1. Fraser Simms made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from John Paul Porter in the 26th minute of play. In the 26th match minute, Great Ayton` was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Eric Kennedy to maneuver through the defense. Loyd Moxon recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 31st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. If Loyd Moxon had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 39th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When the match clock showed 44 minutes, the score became 2-1 when Loyd Moxon sped through Great Ayton`'s defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Fraser Simms.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell John Paul Porter to make the kick off. John Paul Porter fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 53rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Fraser Simms having to interfere. If Loyd Moxon had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 55th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The supporters of Diss AFC booed when Great Ayton` was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 56 match minutes in a wonderful position. Steven Chambers didn't get a good kick on the ball. 57 minutes into the match, Great Ayton`'s goal looked a bit too open when Loyd Moxon came free, but Fraser Simms reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When John Paul Porter came up free with the goalie in the 61st minute, the Diss AFC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that John Paul Porter couldn't finish the play. Marlon Grainger's late challenge caught a Diss AFC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Marlon Grainger helped the player get up and apologised. In the 74th match minute, Great Ayton` was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Marlon Grainger to maneuver through the defense. After some fancy dribbling in the 77th minute, Loyd Moxon managed to get in a good position for a shot. Diss AFC's supporters rose to their feet, but Loyd Moxon was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Fraser Simms breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 85 minutes into the match, Great Ayton`'s goal looked a bit too open when Loyd Moxon came free, but Fraser Simms reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The Diss AFC fans' excitement grew in the 92nd match minute when Diss AFC's John Paul Porter looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 4-2 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. It was no surprise that this one had ended in a win for the home team. Diss AFC had played much better football throughout.
