Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) Ullesthorpe's Tommy Palmer started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. The supporters of Ullesthorpe booed when Bishops Castle City was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 2 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jools Briant didn't get a good kick on the ball. Nigel Wardill made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Tommy Palmer in the 5th minute of play. Ullesthorpe's Tommy Palmer got a good chance for a goal in the 7th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Bobby Langford's late challenge caught a Ullesthorpe's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Bobby Langford helped the player get up and apologised. In the 17thth minute of the game Tommy Palmer who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Bishops Castle City's Nigel Wardill was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. In the 18th minute Tommy Palmer shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Nigel Wardill saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 21st minute, Bobby Langford hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Bishops Castle City's Nigel Wardill proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 23rd minute of the match, managed to save Bishops Castle City from getting a goal against them. Crispin Lane made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Dave Dumpleton in the 26th minute of play. Bishops Castle City's Bobby Langford got his second yellow card of the match in the 30th minute. Ullesthorpe's supporters crossed their fingers, but Tommy Palmer was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Nigel Wardill showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Tommy Palmer in the 47th minute of the match. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The wind increased when Verne Ely made the kick off in the second half. After some fancy dribbling in the 51st minute, Alistair Dibb managed to get in a good position for a shot. Ullesthorpe's supporters rose to their feet, but Alistair Dibb was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Nigel Wardill breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Alistair Dibb fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 55th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Nigel Wardill having to interfere. Phil Carlick kicked well hit freekick during the 57th minute of the match. In the 58th minute, Alistair Dibb got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Nigel Wardill took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Alistair Dibb, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Tommy Palmer recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 63rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. With a left leg Nigel Wardill saved Bishops Castle City from getting behind. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Geoff Kent during the 78th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 78th minute, Geoff Kent hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. If Alistair Dibb had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 79th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Alistair Dibb received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 83rd minute. Nigel Wardill tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After a defensive mix-up in Bishops Castle City's zone, Alistair Dibb stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Nigel Wardill came out of the goal and Alistair Dibb tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 91 minutes into the match, Bishops Castle City's goal looked a bit too open when Alistair Dibb came free, but Nigel Wardill reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Tommy Palmer fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 94th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Nigel Wardill having to interfere.
