An unexpectedly hard shot by Ollie Smikle in the 41st minute of play forced Executive Crew's goalkeeper Louie Sherwood to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 45 minutes into the match, Executive Crew's goal looked a bit too open when Ollie Smikle came free, but Louie Sherwood reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 47th minute, Syd Meadowcroft ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Louie Sherwood was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-1.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Oscar Heath to strike the kick off in the second half. Felix Pullen's late challenge caught a Arsenal's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Felix Pullen helped the player get up and apologised. In the 85th match minute, Executive Crew was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Felix Pullen to maneuver through the defense. Will Wardill's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Louie Sherwood read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 87th minute of play. If Matthew Goodwick had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 95th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Matthew Goodwick fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 99th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Austin Toovey having to interfere.
