Marcus Sutherland's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Austin Toovey read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 26th minute of play. Austin Toovey made an important save on a dangerous shot by Philip Wendon in the 33rd minute. Arsenal's defense didn't have a chance, in the 36th minute, when Marcus Sutherland scored to the left of an out of position Austin Toovey, making the score, 2-0. Ty Blower kicked well hit freekick during the 41st minute of the match. Kirk Jowsey scored 2-1 in the 45th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Perry Booth, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-1.

Sol Thackray kicked well hit freekick during the 51st minute of the match. Ollie Castleton's late challenge caught a Arsenal's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Ollie Castleton helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to Whitworth City getting a freekick after 55 minutes play. Ollie Castleton hit a great ball. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Philip Wendon in the 60th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Austin Toovey saved Arsenal from getting behind. The Whitworth City fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Perry Booth should have stopped the shot. Kirk Jowsey might have been able to make a better finish in the 72nd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Perry Booth. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Kirk Jowsey ran back to his position shaking his head. After some careless play in the Arsenal defense, Marcus Sutherland kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Austin Toovey. The audience was convinced that Kirk Jowsey's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Perry Booth was relentless in the 95th minute of the game. Whitworth City's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
