Seating: 1733, VIP seats: 150) Whitworth City's Philip Wendon started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Whitworth City's Philip Wendon got a good chance for a goal in the 4th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 5thth minute of the game Philip Wendon who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Frimley's Andrew Holloway was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Ollie Castleton hit a great freekick 10 minutes into the match. After recieving a nice pass, Frimley's Donald Collingwood tried to score from far away in the 11th minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. In the 13th minute, Bruce Lynch left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Whitworth City fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-1. Bruce Lynch's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Andrew Holloway read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 16th minute of play. After 25 minutes, Richie Partridge made it 1-1 with a short kick to the right side. Whitworth City's Perry Booth tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. In the 28th minute, Robin Metcalfe hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. If Philip Wendon had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 31st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Vern Plumber sent away a hard shot on goal in the 40th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. A collision led to Whitworth City getting a freekick after 41 minutes play. Robin Metcalfe hit a great ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 43rd minute, Richie Partridge managed to get in a good position for a shot. Frimley's supporters rose to their feet, but Richie Partridge was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Perry Booth breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. If Bruce Lynch had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 47th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 1-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.
The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Vern Plumber was the one to do the kick off. In the 53rd minute, Bruce Lynch fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of Andrew Holloway, passed just outside the right post. Perry Booth showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Vern Plumber in the 55th minute of the match. Everyone was convinced a goal was close when Whitworth City's Philip Wendon in the 59th minute lifted the ball towards the upper right corner, but Andrew Holloway was perfectly placed and prevented a goal for Frimley through an amazing save. Through an outstanding action, after 66 minutes, Andrew Holloway successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. Toby Noble's shot from long distance in the 74th minute was not bad at all, but Frimley's Andrew Holloway knew what was happening and pushed the ball into his arms just before it hit the right post. After a rather tough play, Frimley's Harry Brayson got a free kick in the 78th minute. After having played for 79 minutes, Philip Wendon managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Whitworth City's supporters crossed their fingers, but Philip Wendon was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Andrew Holloway made a fantastic save in the 83rd minute, when Bruce Lynch sent off a good shot on target. Andrew Holloway showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Philip Wendon in the 84th minute of the match. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Jo Hodges during the 84th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After 85 played minutes Frimley got a freekick which was hit by Jo Hodges. If Bruce Lynch had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 91st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. If Richie Partridge had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 93rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 96 minutes into the match, Frimley's Richie Partridge sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Perry Booth narrowly saved just below the crossbar. The Whitworth City supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Whitworth City would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
