Spectators: 7378 (Terracing: 5647, Seating: 1731, VIP seats: 0) It was fairly windy and cold on the field when Malcolm Kerfoot kicked off to start the match. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Carl Kershaw during the 5th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Rod Pollard in the 10th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Rob Winship saved Skegness from getting behind. 11 minutes into the game, Gerry Blacksmith was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. OJ Rovers's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Skegness the free kick. After 11 played minutes OJ Rovers got a freekick which was hit by Gerry Blacksmith. OJ Rovers's Ralf Harkness played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Malcolm Kerfoot in the 13th minute of play. 21 minutes into the match, Al Fuller notched a goal, 0-1, to the right of Skegness's Rob Winship. Rob Winship was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. After having played for 26 minutes, Al Fuller managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. OJ Rovers's supporters crossed their fingers, but Al Fuller was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 27th minute Rod Pollard shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Rob Winship saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Rod Pollard recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 29th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 31 minutes into the match, Skegness's goal looked a bit too open when Rod Pollard came free, but Rob Winship reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Al Fuller fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 34th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Rob Winship having to interfere. 35 minutes into the game, OJ Rovers's Al Fuller nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Rob Winship made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-2. An unexpectedly hard shot by Rod Pollard in the 39th minute of play forced Skegness's goalkeeper Rob Winship to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Rob Winship took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Rod Pollard, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Skegness's Rob Winship played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Rod Pollard in the 44th minute of play. The supporters of OJ Rovers booed when Skegness was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 47 match minutes in a wonderful position. Sid Hindmarsh didn't get a good kick on the ball.

Ralf Harkness made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Malcolm Kerfoot in the 55th minute of play. If Al Fuller had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 61st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 62 minutes, Philip Rayner mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Skegness and the OJ Rovers players grew even worse after the yellow card. Philip Rayner kicked well hit freekick during the 62nd minute of the match. Mark Patterson's late challenge caught a Skegness's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Mark Patterson helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to OJ Rovers getting a freekick after 73 minutes play. Mark Patterson hit a great ball. Al Fuller sent away a hard shot on goal in the 76th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Rod Pollard hit a great freekick 80 minutes into the match. 81 minutes into the match, OJ Rovers's goal looked a bit too open when Malcolm Kerfoot came free, but Ralf Harkness reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Rob Winship made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Rod Pollard in the 83rd minute of play. After a rather tough play, Skegness's Stuart Barat got a free kick in the 86th minute. OJ Rovers's Rod Pollard managed to work through Skegness's defense and was going for an easy goal, but he hit the shot with his toe and the ball flew outside the goal. Rod Pollard dejectedly held out his arms as if to ask why the ball hadn't gone in. Rob Winship took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Rod Pollard, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. A hard shot 94 in the game by Al Fuller from a close distance when the talented Rob Winship managed to make a qualified save. Skegness's players were relieved.
