After having played for 2 minutes, Glen Goodwin managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. The goalkeeper, Gregory Carter, was totally fooled by Penge's Roger Evans, who 25 minutes into the game made a penalty shot that went in on the goalkeeper's left side. After some careless play in the Penge defense, Glen Goodwin kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Danny Thurman. The Penge fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Danny Thurman should have stopped the shot. In the 32nd minute Glen Goodwin shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Danny Thurman saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line.
