Thanks to some nice moves Mickey Kessler could shoot a difficult shot in the 10th minute, which Mark Golding however easily saved by the left post. Leo Longden fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 14th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Howard Noble having to interfere. 18 minutes into the match, Warrington Knights's goal looked a bit too open when Doug Salt came free, but Mark Golding reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After some fancy dribbling in the 25th minute, Doug Salt managed to get in a good position for a shot. Newton Green Rovers's supporters rose to their feet, but Doug Salt was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Mark Golding breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The supporters of Newton Green Rovers booed when Warrington Knights was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 29 match minutes in a wonderful position. Danny Prutton didn't get a good kick on the ball. After a rather tough play, Warrington Knights's Danny Prutton got a free kick in the 30th minute. After a defensive mix-up in Warrington Knights's zone, Mickey Kessler stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Mark Golding came out of the goal and Mickey Kessler tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 35th minute Leo Longden shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Howard Noble saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Howard Noble took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Leo Longden, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 38 minutes into the game, Doug Salt recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Mark Golding. Doug Salt showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-0. Mickey Kessler spun around in front of the goal 41 minutes in the game, and got away a shot that, to his disappointment, went to the left of Warrington Knights's goal. Warrington Knights's Mark Golding played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Doug Salt in the 43rd minute of play. Mickey Kessler succeeded to score despite a near miss that spronge from right pole into the goal to 2-0 in the 44th playminute.

Mark Golding showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Mickey Kessler, who was totally free with the ball in the 54th minute. Mark Golding made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Doug Salt in the 55th minute of play. After 57 played minutes Newton Green Rovers got a freekick which was hit by Wágner Lucas. After recieving a nice pass, Warrington Knights's David Jordoan tried to score from far away in the 58th minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. Leo Longden received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 60th minute. Howard Noble tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The audience was convinced that Doug Salt's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Mark Golding was relentless in the 62nd minute of the game. Mark Golding took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Mickey Kessler, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The goalkeeper smacked the ball away after a great corner, but Mickey Kessler advanced and headed the ball into goal, 3-0 in the 73rd minute. Doug Salt struck a weak shot in the 76th minute. Mark Golding didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Newton Green Rovers. Isaac Mansfield's late challenge caught a Newton Green Rovers's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Isaac Mansfield helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to Warrington Knights getting a freekick after 77 minutes play. Isaac Mansfield hit a great ball. Mark Golding stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Doug Salt's shot from short distance in the 83rd minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 84th minute, Dion Willets managed to get in a good position for a shot.
