The supporters of Bayton booed when Calverley was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 8 match minutes in a wonderful position. Sidney Auty didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 13th minute, Kris Nelthorpe hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 14th minute of the match George Wheeler shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Junior Baldwin showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. A collision led to Bayton getting a freekick after 20 minutes play. Rupert Chilton hit a great ball. Junior Baldwin made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Bryan Constable in the 22nd minute of play. Jonathan Shaw fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 24th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Buster Proctor having to interfere. In the 25th minute, Rupert Chilton hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ruben Butterfield in the 30th minute of play forced Calverley's goalkeeper Junior Baldwin to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Junior Baldwin showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ruben Butterfield, who was totally free with the ball in the 36th minute. After 47 played minutes Bayton got a freekick which was hit by Rupert Chilton. Buster Proctor showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jonathan Shaw, who was totally free with the ball in the 48th minute. The Calverley players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Bayton were winning 0-1.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Jonathan Shaw stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Calverley's Junior Baldwin proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 55th minute of the match, managed to save Calverley from getting a goal against them. The referee ignored Bayton's protests and gave Ruben Butterfield a yellow card for diving instead. In the 70th match minute, Bayton was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ruben Butterfield to maneuver through the defense. Bryan Constable sent away a hard shot on goal in the 74th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Ruben Butterfield couldn't finish the play. If Ruben Butterfield had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 88th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The Bayton supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Bayton would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
