Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Gareth Glanvill started the match with the kick off. Bryan Constable received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 7th minute. Larry Wybrow tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Ruben Butterfield sent away a hard shot on goal in the 9th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Horwich United's Gareth Glanvill got a good chance for a goal in the 15th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Buster Proctor showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Todd Craddock in the 18th minute of the match. After having played for 20 minutes, Archie Davey managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Horwich United's supporters crossed their fingers, but Archie Davey was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The crowd rose to their feet as Bayton's Bryan Constable slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Larry Wybrow. That made the score 1-0 after 22 minutes of play. Gareth Glanvill received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 27th minute. Buster Proctor tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Horwich United's Larry Wybrow proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 32nd minute of the match, managed to save Horwich United from getting a goal against them. 33 minutes into the match, Horwich United's Todd Craddock sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Buster Proctor narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Buster Proctor took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Gareth Glanvill, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Bryan Constable who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 39thth minute tested the skills of Larry Wybrow when he managed to save the team from getting behind. In the 40th minute, Todd Craddock got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. If Todd Craddock had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 42nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.

In the 51st minute Ruben Butterfield shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Larry Wybrow saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. A collision led to Bayton getting a freekick after 52 minutes play. Rupert Chilton hit a great ball. Gareth Glanvill fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 54th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Buster Proctor having to interfere. In the 57th minute, Gareth Glanvill got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Buster Proctor took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Gareth Glanvill, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The audience thought a goal was coming when Todd Craddock got free with Buster Proctor in the 68th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After some careless play in the Bayton defense, Todd Craddock kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Buster Proctor. The Bayton fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Buster Proctor should have stopped the shot. Todd Craddock struck a weak shot in the 77th minute. Buster Proctor didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Horwich United. Todd Craddock received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 81st minute. Buster Proctor tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When Dave Sheldon fell near the penalty area in the 85th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Horwich United's protests and gave Dave Sheldon a yellow card for diving instead. In the 84th minute, one of Horwich United:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Horwich United. George Wheeler shot the penalty kick right outside the post. 94 minutes into the match, Horwich United's goal looked a bit too open when Bryan Constable came free, but Larry Wybrow reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. With 96 minutes on the clock, George Wheeler commited a dangerous tackle. The referee had no choice but to show him the red card.
