In the 3rd minute Dominik Hawke shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Glen Blake saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Glen Blake made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Freddie East in the 5th minute of play. The supporters of Evington booed when Belper Town was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 7 match minutes in a wonderful position. Glyn Sherwood didn't get a good kick on the ball. After a rather tough play, Evington's Rupert Higgins got a free kick in the 15th minute. Glen Blake made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Dominik Hawke in the 18th minute of play. Stan Meadowcroft received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 21st minute. Martyn Fordham tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Freddie East succeeded in the game's 23rd minute to shoot an unreachable shot under the crossbar and scored - 1-1. In the 28th minute, Casey Trotter left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Evington fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-1. Tristram Reed hit a great freekick 30 minutes into the match. Glen Blake showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Christian Nicholson, who was totally free with the ball in the 32nd minute. Rupert Higgins's late challenge caught a Belper Town's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Rupert Higgins helped the player get up and apologised. In the 36th minute, Rupert Higgins hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Casey Trotter during the 40th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. The supporters of Belper Town booed when Evington was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 40 match minutes in a wonderful position. Casey Trotter didn't get a good kick on the ball. The audience was convinced that Dominik Hawke's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Glen Blake was relentless in the 43rd minute of the game. Belper Town were awarded a corner in the 45th minute after Evington's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Reg Lewington took the corner. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Belper Town's Dominik Hawke got a good chance for a goal in the 88th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Martyn Fordham showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Casey Trotter in the 93rd minute of the match. The home crowd let out a huge roar when the referee blew for the end of the game. Evington were victorious despite being under pressure from Belper Town for much of the match.
