Spectators: 6834 (Terracing: 5000, Seating: 1834, VIP seats: 0) The sun was shining, the grass was green and the audience cheered when Andre Clayton got the match started through his kick off. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Junior Prince in the 23rd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Shane Bowe saved Northampton City from getting behind. A collision led to Welling FC getting a freekick after 28 minutes play. Steve Addison hit a great ball. Northampton City's Wally Allott got a good chance for a goal in the 30th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. An unexpectedly hard shot by Robbie Wing in the 32nd minute of play forced Northampton City's goalkeeper Shane Bowe to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Andre Clayton in the 33rd minute of play forced Welling FC's goalkeeper Sebastien Bridge to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Steve Addison kicked well hit freekick during the 34th minute of the match. When Andre Clayton came up free with the goalie in the 41st minute, the Northampton City fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Andre Clayton couldn't finish the play. Welling FC's Junior Prince got a good chance for a goal in the 45th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Sebastien Bridge didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Wally Allott went, in the 48th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-2 was the resulting score. The Northampton City players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Welling FC were winning 1-2.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Junior Prince was the one to do the kick off. If Junior Prince had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 55th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 57th match minute, Welling FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Robbie Wing to maneuver through the defense. Sebastien Bridge made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Wally Allott in the 64th minute of play. Welling FC's Junior Prince got a good chance for a goal in the 65th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Welling FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Northampton City the free kick. In the 71st minute, Bryan Vaughan hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Northampton City's Shane Bowe proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 74th minute of the match, managed to save Northampton City from getting a goal against them. Dominik Goacher kicked well hit freekick during the 75th minute of the match. Shane Bowe made an important save on a dangerous shot by Robbie Wing in the 83rd minute. Dominik Goacher charged in rather forcefully in the 96th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Dominik Goacher the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Dominik Goacher kicked well hit freekick during the 97th minute of the match. 97 minutes into the match, Northampton City's goalkeeper Shane Bowe had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Robbie Wing. The Northampton City supporters were disappointed that their team didn't take anything from the match, despite matching Welling FC's performance. The match ended with a win for Welling FC.
