Dennis Maskell dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-0. Glenn Hassell fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 16th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Brendon Denham having to interfere. Horsforth's Dennis Maskell played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Johnny Boyd in the 19th minute of play. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Kristian Wardle came up free with the goalie in the 32nd minute, the Horsforth fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Kristian Wardle couldn't finish the play. A collision led to Ace fc getting a freekick after 35 minutes play. Kevin Bennett hit a great ball. In the 37th minute Gordon Froggatt shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dennis Maskell saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Kristian Wardle to strike the kick off in the second half. Ozzy Gildea struck a weak shot in the 51st minute. Dennis Maskell didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Ace fc. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 54th minute of the game. One of Horsforth:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Ace fc:s goal. Brynn Wadham hit a great freekick 60 minutes into the match. Ace fc's Gordon Froggatt got a good chance for a goal in the 65th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 69th minute Johnny Boyd shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dennis Maskell saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When Ozzy Gildea fell near the penalty area in the 77th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Ace fc's protests and gave Ozzy Gildea a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Ace fc getting a freekick after 77 minutes play. Ozzy Gildea hit a great ball. Dennis Maskell showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Johnny Boyd, who was totally free with the ball in the 79th minute. 81 minutes into the game, Ace fc's Johnny Boyd nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Dennis Maskell made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 6-0. If Johnny Boyd had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 88th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gordon Froggatt in the 92nd minute of play forced Horsforth's goalkeeper Dennis Maskell to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Gordon Froggatt might have been able to make a better finish in the 94th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Dennis Maskell. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Gordon Froggatt ran back to his position shaking his head. Ace fc's Gordon Froggatt got a good chance for a goal in the 96th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. When the referee ended the match the Ace fc players were able to celebrate. They had won a fair victory and recieved the ovations of their fans.
