Porthcurno City's supporters crossed their fingers, but Glenn Hotte was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Freddy Boyes took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Alec Halloran, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. An unexpectedly hard shot by Glenn Hotte in the 18th minute of play forced Wanborough's goalkeeper Richard Rathmell to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Larry Gamble kicked well hit freekick during the 19th minute of the match. Porthcurno City's Freddy Boyes played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jo Rice in the 24th minute of play. The audience was convinced that Jo Rice's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Freddy Boyes was relentless in the 27th minute of the game. After 30 played minutes Porthcurno City got a freekick which was hit by Dan Lane. After 31 played minutes, Wanborough's Dale Deveraux shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Freddy Boyes came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Wanborough reached it. Freddy Boyes showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Alec Halloran, who was totally free with the ball in the 32nd minute. 37 minutes had been played when some careless play by Porthcurno City's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Dale Deveraux was slow to take the kick. During this time Wanborough's players had a chance to rest. Dale Deveraux made a great header on Wanborough's corner, it was just that Porthcurno City's Freddy Boyes managed to reach the ball for a save. Wally Stonehouse's late challenge caught a Porthcurno City's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Wally Stonehouse helped the player get up and apologised. Wally Stonehouse hit a great freekick 38 minutes into the match. In the 40th match minute, Wanborough was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Larry Gamble to maneuver through the defense. The Porthcurno City players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Wanborough were winning 0-1.

In the 59th minute, Laurence Buchanan ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Richard Rathmell was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-1. In the 65th minute Porthcurno City were awarded a corner. Paddy Heywood went to the cornerflag to take it. Richard Rathmell came out of the goal in the 67th minute to try and stop a shot by Porthcurno City's Glenn Hotte. But to his dismay, Glenn Hotte quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-1. Freddy Boyes showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Alec Halloran, who was totally free with the ball in the 78th minute. 80 minutes into the game, Jo Rice cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 3-2. Freddy Boyes was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Alec Halloran in the 83rd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Freddy Boyes saved Porthcurno City from getting behind. If Larry Gamble had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 95th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.
