Blair Kitching hit a great freekick 19 minutes into the match. After a rather tough play, Walford AFC's Wes Friebe got a free kick in the 22nd minute. Shaftesbury FC's Shawn Lane got a good chance for a goal in the 29th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Jim Askew took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Bradley Harkness, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Shaftesbury FC's Gareth Izzard played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Kenny Cousens in the 33rd minute of play. Bradley Harkness recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 36th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Jim Askew showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Bradley Harkness in the 39th minute of the match. In the 41st minute, Ryan Frost hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After 43 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Shaftesbury FC! The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-3.

When Chaz Sparkes fell near the penalty area in the 54th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. After a defensive mix-up in Walford AFC's zone, Ryan Frost stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Jim Askew came out of the goal and Ryan Frost tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 73rd match minute, Walford AFC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Jay Slator to maneuver through the defense. The audience was convinced that Shawn Lane's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Jim Askew was relentless in the 76th minute of the game. A collision led to Shaftesbury FC getting a freekick after 78 minutes play. Freddy Leyburn hit a great ball.
