In the 33rd minute, Glenn Hotte ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Vincent Straker was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-2. After 36 minutes, Phil Ring mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the East Grinstead and the Porthcurno City players grew even worse after the yellow card. An unexpectedly hard shot by Glenn Hotte in the 46th minute of play forced East Grinstead's goalkeeper Vincent Straker to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Crispin Gilchrist made a kick off. After 51 played minutes East Grinstead got a freekick which was hit by Joshua Strongman. Vincent Straker stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Glenn Hotte's shot from short distance in the 54th minute. Fraser Gerrard fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 56th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Freddy Boyes having to interfere. Laurence Buchanan could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 58th minute of the match, but Vincent Straker made a huge save. 65 minutes into the match, East Grinstead's goalkeeper Vincent Straker had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Laurence Buchanan. Crispin Gilchrist received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 69th minute. Freddy Boyes tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Freddy Boyes took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Crispin Gilchrist, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 76th minute, Greg Nightingale hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. With 79 minutes on the clock, Jake Warner commited a dangerous tackle. The referee had no choice but to show him the red card. In the 79th minute, one of Porthcurno City:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Porthcurno City. Porthcurno City:s Freddy Boyes showed great skill when he stopped Bruce Newby:s penalty. After some fancy dribbling in the 86th minute, Thomas Little managed to get in a good position for a shot. Porthcurno City's supporters rose to their feet, but Thomas Little was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Vincent Straker breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Porthcurno City's Freddy Boyes played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Fraser Gerrard in the 92nd minute of play. Greg Nightingale kicked well hit freekick during the 95th minute of the match. Paddy Heywood was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 96th played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. The Porthcurno City players were relieved to hear the final whistle blow to end the match. The away crowd was happy to see their team win after a very tight game.
