Johnny Slater didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Walford AFC. Johnny Slater was in exellent shape and made a fantastic save when he, in the 23rd minute of the match, managed to get hold of the ball after a long shot from Jacob Easton. Berwick Upon Tweed's goalkeeper couldn't reach when Kenny Cousens 26 minutes into the game got a good kick on the ball which found its way into goal just inside left pole. 2-0. Kenny Cousens fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 28th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Johnny Slater having to interfere. Berwick Upon Tweed's Johnny Slater played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Kenny Cousens in the 30th minute of play. Calum Bolton charged in rather forcefully in the 36th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Calum Bolton the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 36 played minutes Walford AFC got a freekick which was hit by Calum Bolton. If Calum Bolton had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 40th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Kenny Cousens received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 47th minute. Johnny Slater tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Af the end of the first half the score was 2-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

Jim Askew took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ken Waite, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After a rather tough play, Walford AFC's Iain Welsh got a free kick in the 52nd minute. With his leg Jim Askew managed to avoid a goal in the 58thth minute, when Berwick Upon Tweed's Martyn Christensen fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. If Martyn Christensen had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 60th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Martyn Christensen fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 63rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jim Askew having to interfere. Jim Askew showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Rio Forster, who was totally free with the ball in the 65th minute. Jim Askew tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Jay Simpson took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 81st minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Jim Askew. Walford AFC's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. When Kenny Cousens came up free with the goalie in the 85th minute, the Walford AFC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Kenny Cousens couldn't finish the play. The supporters of Walford AFC booed when Berwick Upon Tweed was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 86 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ken Waite didn't get a good kick on the ball. If Martyn Christensen had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 88th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Martyn Christensen sent away a hard shot on goal in the 97th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The crowd rose to their feet and cheered when the referee blew the final whistle. Walford AFC had won after a very even match.
