Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) The mood of the audience was pleasant when Pete Cotterill made the kick off which started today's match. Verwood's Sebastian Haxby played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Derek Pitt in the 4th minute of play. In the 6th minute Charles Gunn shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Sebastian Haxby saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Sebastian Haxby showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Derek Pitt in the 7th minute of the match. Sebastian Haxby took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Charles Gunn, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. If Charles Gunn had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 18th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After some careless play in the Huddersfield FC defense, Pete Cotterill kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Pete Halford. The Huddersfield FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Pete Halford should have stopped the shot. An unexpectedly hard shot by Charles Gunn in the 26th minute of play forced Verwood's goalkeeper Sebastian Haxby to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Pete Cotterill scored 2-0 in the 30th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Pete Halford, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. When the match clock showed 32 minutes, the score became 2-1 when Derek Pitt sped through Verwood's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Sebastian Haxby. If Derek Pitt had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 36th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Sebastian Haxby took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Charles Gunn, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. A collision led to Verwood getting a freekick after 40 minutes play. Joey Stockley hit a great ball. In the 45th minute Charles Gunn shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Sebastian Haxby saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Derek Pitt kicked well hit freekick during the 48th minute of the match.
The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Charles Gunn to strike the kick off in the second half. In the 52nd minute, Pete Cotterill made a precise shot to the right of Pete Halford. Huddersfield FC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 3-1. 56 minutes into the game, Brendon Eubank was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Huddersfield FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Verwood the free kick. The referee gave Verwood a penalty, 58 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Peter Dickner, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Huddersfield FC's Pete Halford. 4-1. In the 65th minute, Pete Cotterill made a precise shot to the right of Pete Halford. Huddersfield FC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 5-1. Peter Dickner hit a great freekick 67 minutes into the match. After some fancy dribbling in the 70th minute, Peter Dickner managed to get in a good position for a shot. Verwood's supporters rose to their feet, but Peter Dickner was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Pete Halford breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Charles Gunn in the 72nd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Sebastian Haxby prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Tony Liddle hit a great freekick 73 minutes into the match. Sebastian Haxby showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Charles Gunn in the 74th minute of the match. Pete Cotterill sent away a hard shot on goal in the 76th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The supporters of Huddersfield FC booed when Verwood was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 80 match minutes in a wonderful position. Dion Southgate didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 82nd minute of the match Craig Butterfield shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Sebastian Haxby showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Derek Pitt could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 85th minute of the match, but Sebastian Haxby made a huge save. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Pete Cotterill in the 87th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Pete Halford saved Huddersfield FC from getting behind. After some careless play in the Verwood defense, Gordon Newman kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Sebastian Haxby. The Verwood fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Sebastian Haxby should have stopped the shot. 96 minutes into the match, Verwood's goal looked a bit too open when Charles Gunn came free, but Sebastian Haxby reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 97th minute Charles Gunn shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Sebastian Haxby saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. For all the effort they put into the match, the Huddersfield FC players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Verwood.
