Dale Prendergast took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Charlie Hanson, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 7 minutes into the match, Charlie Hanson dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Dale Prendergast, 1-0. Dale Prendergast made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Charlie Hanson in the 10th minute of play. Charlie Hanson received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 12th minute. Dale Prendergast tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Adam Partridge charged in rather forcefully in the 13th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Adam Partridge the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After a rather tough play, Chiswick United's Adam Partridge got a free kick in the 13th minute. In the 15th minute, Kenny Baird hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Dale Prendergast showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Charlie Hanson, who was totally free with the ball in the 18th minute. When Gary Basterfield came up free with the goalie in the 21st minute, the Chiswick United fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Gary Basterfield couldn't finish the play. 23 minutes into the match, Chiswick United's Gary Basterfield sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that James Hotte narrowly saved just below the crossbar. The Academy Team fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that James Hotte should have stopped the shot. If Charlie Hanson had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 46th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The first half was very even, with the score at 1-1 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Pierre Hunter made a kick off. With a little luck, Academy Team's James Hotte got control of the ball when Gary Basterfield tried to sneak it across the goal line. Pierre Hunter fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 61st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without James Hotte having to interfere. James Hotte made an important save on a dangerous shot by Gary Basterfield in the 64th minute. In the 68th minute the ball was on its way in behind Academy Team's goalkeeper James Hotte, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Ruben Croyden hit a great freekick 71 minutes into the match. With a little luck, Academy Team's James Hotte got control of the ball when Gary Basterfield tried to sneak it across the goal line. After having played for 74 minutes, Gary Basterfield managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Chiswick United's supporters crossed their fingers, but Gary Basterfield was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal.
