Mark Draper fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 15th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Reg Christensen having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Eddy Boyd in the 19th minute of play forced Academy Team's goalkeeper James Hotte to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 21 minutes of play, Harleston's Eddy Boyd made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. James Hotte was left in no man's land by his defense there! James Hotte took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Eddy Boyd, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. An unexpectedly hard shot by Charlie Hanson in the 28th minute of play forced Harleston's goalkeeper Reg Christensen to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The audience was convinced that Eddy Boyd's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but James Hotte was relentless in the 32nd minute of the game. In the 35th minute Eddy Boyd shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but James Hotte saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 35th match minute, Academy Team was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Lawrence Burrows to maneuver through the defense. James Hotte showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Sebastien Steadman, who was totally free with the ball in the 45th minute. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Sebastien Steadman in the 47th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck James Hotte prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

After 58 played minutes Harleston got a freekick which was hit by Jack Weeks. In the 60th minute, Mark Draper hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Academy Team's defense didn't have a chance, in the 62nd minute, when Eddy Boyd scored to the left of an out of position James Hotte, making the score, 0-2. When Eddy Boyd came up free with the goalie in the 68th minute, the Harleston fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Eddy Boyd couldn't finish the play. When Paddy Myers fell near the penalty area in the 72nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Academy Team's protests and gave Paddy Myers a yellow card for diving instead. Lawrence Burrows's late challenge caught a Harleston's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Lawrence Burrows helped the player get up and apologised. In the 78th minute Eddy Boyd shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but James Hotte saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Academy Team's Lawrence Burrows got his second yellow card of the match in the 79th minute. The referee ordered Lawrence Burrows off the ground. James Hotte didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Eddy Boyd went, in the 83rd minute, to the upper right corner, 0-3 was the resulting score. Eddy Boyd sent away a hard shot on goal in the 89th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When Sebastien Steadman came up free with the goalie in the 100th minute, the Harleston fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Sebastien Steadman couldn't finish the play.
