In the 7th minute Pete Cotterill shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Conal Lewington saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 8th match minute, Verwood was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Jimmy Hayles to maneuver through the defense. East Leakers's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Verwood the free kick. In the 25th minute of the match Peter Dickner sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Conal Lewington skillfully saved the ball. Charlie Burgess kicked well hit freekick during the 26th minute of the match. After having played for 28 minutes, Olly Morley managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. East Leakers's supporters crossed their fingers, but Olly Morley was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Richard Thompson's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 29thth minute, Sebastian Haxby skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. Peter Dickner sent away a hard shot on goal in the 31st minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. After having played for 33 minutes, Richard Thompson managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Conal Lewington made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Peter Dickner in the 40th minute of play. An unexpected shot in the 41st minute by Richard Thompson got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. 46 minutes into the game, East Leakers's Richard Thompson nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Sebastian Haxby made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-0. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Richard Thompson to make the kick off. Sebastian Haxby showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Richard Thompson in the 54th minute of the match. Tony Liddle kicked well hit freekick during the 55th minute of the match. After a rather tough play, Verwood's Tony Liddle got a free kick in the 60th minute. Conal Lewington made a fantastic save in the 64th minute, when Pete Cotterill sent off a good shot on target. An unexpectedly hard shot by Richard Thompson in the 70th minute of play forced Verwood's goalkeeper Sebastian Haxby to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The East Leakers fans' excitement grew in the 72nd match minute when East Leakers's Richard Thompson looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 2-0 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Sebastian Haxby showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Richard Thompson in the 76th minute of the match. Pete Cotterill could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 79th minute of the match, but Conal Lewington made a huge save. After a rather tough play, Verwood's Jimmy Hayles got a free kick in the 80th minute. When the match had gone on for 93 minutes, Richard Thompson put it in 3-0 from a short distance just to the right of Sebastian Haxby. The crowd rose to their feet and cheered when the referee blew the final whistle. East Leakers had won after a very even match.
