The supporters of Huddersfield FC booed when Chilcompton was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 17 match minutes in a wonderful position. Don Harrad didn't get a good kick on the ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Zane Douglas got free with Pete Halford in the 31st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Derek Pitt in the 34th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Alfred Ingram saved Chilcompton from getting behind. After 36 minutes of play, Huddersfield FC's Derek Pitt made it 1-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Alfred Ingram was left in no man's land by his defense there! In the 40th minute, Charles Gunn ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Alfred Ingram was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-3. In the 45th match minute, Chilcompton was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Glen Snowden to maneuver through the defense. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 1-3.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Tony Robins stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Cliff Reynolds charged in rather forcefully in the 80th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Cliff Reynolds the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of Chilcompton booed when Huddersfield FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 81 match minutes in a wonderful position. Cliff Reynolds didn't get a good kick on the ball. Greg Eastwood took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 82nd minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Pete Halford. Alfred Ingram showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Charles Gunn in the 84th minute of the match. Charles Gunn blasted a shot towards the goal in the 94th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Alfred Ingram having to make a save. Pete Halford showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Zane Douglas, who was totally free with the ball in the 96th minute. The Huddersfield FC players were relieved to hear the final whistle blow to end the match. The away crowd was happy to see their team win after a very tight game.
