Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. George Homes sent away a hard shot on goal in the 16th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When Marek Joynes fell near the penalty area in the 17th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored East Leakers's protests and gave Marek Joynes a yellow card for diving instead. Marek Joynes hit a great freekick 17 minutes into the match. Conal Lewington made a fantastic save in the 20th minute, when Ricky Fletcher sent off a good shot on target. After 23 minutes, Darren Alcock mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Coombe and the East Leakers players grew even worse after the yellow card. Darren Alcock hit a great freekick 23 minutes into the match. Brad Rigg missed a clear chance of a goal when in the 24 minute of the game fired away a shot, but unfortunally the ball went out to the Thom Payne right hand side. The supporters of Coombe booed when East Leakers was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 26 match minutes in a wonderful position. Olly Morley didn't get a good kick on the ball. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Richard Thompson in the 29th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Thom Payne saved Coombe from getting behind. George Homes recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 35th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Darren Paley kicked well hit freekick during the 38th minute of the match. Thom Payne took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Verne Fountain, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 41st minute Richard Thompson shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Thom Payne saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell George Homes to make the kick off. A collision led to Coombe getting a freekick after 51 minutes play. Dean Gunn hit a great ball. Paul Burgess's late challenge caught a East Leakers's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Paul Burgess helped the player get up and apologised. In the 55th minute, Paul Burgess hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Richard Thompson could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 56th minute of the match, but Thom Payne made a huge save. Conal Frizzell hit a great freekick 57 minutes into the match. In the 59th match minute, East Leakers was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Mike Hume to maneuver through the defense. George Homes was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 59th played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. A hard shot 62 in the game by Richard Thompson from a close distance when the talented Thom Payne managed to make a qualified save. Coombe's players were relieved. 65 minutes into the match, East Leakers's goal looked a bit too open when George Homes came free, but Conal Lewington reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Ricky Fletcher had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 70th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 75 minutes into the match, Richard Thompson had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Thom Payne. Coombe's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Richard Thompson was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-1. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Richard Thompson during the 80th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. The supporters of Coombe booed when East Leakers was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 86 match minutes in a wonderful position. Coombe's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave East Leakers the free kick. After 90 played minutes Coombe got a freekick which was hit by Ricky Fletcher. Richard Thompson who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 96thth minute tested the skills of Thom Payne when he managed to save the team from getting behind. The final whistle blew with the score still tied, and both teams left the pitch thinking about the missed chances that could have given their team the win.
