Stevie Bakewell hit a great freekick 7 minutes into the match. Kurt Hargreaves took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Sid Renton, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. With 19 minutes on the clock, Guy Graves commited a dangerous tackle. The referee had no choice but to show him the red card. In the 18th minute, one of Kimpton:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Kimpton. In the 21st minute there was a penalty for Binsted. Ivan Boyce stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Jeremy Pickard. 0-2. Kimpton's Jeremy Pickard played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Freddy Martindale in the 26th minute of play. After 36 minutes, Bart Quantrill mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Kimpton and the Binsted players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 37 played minutes Kimpton got a freekick which was hit by Bart Quantrill. Bart Quantrill blasted a shot towards the goal in the 39th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Kurt Hargreaves having to make a save. With a little luck, Binsted's Kurt Hargreaves got control of the ball when Bart Quantrill tried to sneak it across the goal line. Jeremy Pickard showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Dom Kirkpatrick, who was totally free with the ball in the 44th minute. After some careless play in the Kimpton defense, Ivan Boyce kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Jeremy Pickard. The Kimpton fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Jeremy Pickard should have stopped the shot. The Kimpton players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Binsted were winning 0-4.
The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Bart Quantrill stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Freddy Martindale fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 52nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jeremy Pickard having to interfere. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Ivan Boyce during the 55th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Ivan Boyce kicked well hit freekick during the 55th minute of the match. The supporters of Kimpton booed when Binsted was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 58 match minutes in a wonderful position. Carlton Boatman didn't get a good kick on the ball. 60 minutes into the match, Kimpton's Bart Quantrill sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Kurt Hargreaves narrowly saved just below the crossbar. When Kimpton's Sid Renton in the 61st minute got a chance for a shot 61st didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Binsted's goalie prevented a goal. Kimpton's Bart Quantrill got a good chance for a goal in the 89th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 92 minutes into the match, Kimpton's goal looked a bit too open when Ivan Boyce came free, but Jeremy Pickard reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 97th minute, Dom Kirkpatrick left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Binsted fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-6. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Binsted eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
