Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) The sun was shining, the grass was green and the audience cheered when Warren Allott got the match started through his kick off. After a rather tough play, Thirsk's Doug Dunn got a free kick in the 3rd minute. Canvey Island's Ivan Hotte shoveled away a really nice long shot in the 4th minute of play. The shot was stopped by Den Watson but with some difficulty. In the 6th minute Dominic Frost shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Justin Fry saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Justin Fry didn't succeed to prevent the ball from going into goal when Thirsk's Spike Clough shot an unexpected shot in the crossbar's under edge and made 0-1 in the ordered_time% minute. After 12 played minutes Thirsk got a freekick which was hit by Jake Dowrick. In the 14th minute, Jake Dowrick hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Den Watson made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Sidney Dennison in the 15th minute of play. 18 minutes into the match, Thirsk's goal looked a bit too open when Sidney Dennison came free, but Den Watson reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 19th minute, Spike Hall got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 21st minute, Canvey Island's Sidney Dennison dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-1. When Thirsk's Spike Clough in the 27th minute got a chance for a shot 27th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Canvey Island's goalie prevented a goal. Den Watson made a fantastic save in the 29th minute, when Jack Trotter sent off a good shot on target. Justin Fry stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Warren Allott's shot from short distance in the 31st minute. 35 minutes into the match, Thirsk's goalkeeper Den Watson had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Spike Hall. Justin Fry came out of the goal in the 37th minute to try and stop a shot by Thirsk's Warren Allott. But to his dismay, Warren Allott quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-2. An unexpectedly hard shot by Sidney Dennison in the 41st minute of play forced Thirsk's goalkeeper Den Watson to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The crowd rose to their feet as Sidney Dennison kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Den Watson. That made the score 2-2 in the 47 minute of play. The first half was very even, with the score at 2-2 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

The wind increased when Sidney Dennison made the kick off in the second half. Justin Fry showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Warren Allott in the 56th minute of the match. Warren Allott fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 58th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Justin Fry having to interfere. Den Watson took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Jack Trotter, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. With his leg Justin Fry managed to avoid a goal in the 60thth minute, when Thirsk's Spike Clough fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Den Watson stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Spike Hall's shot from short distance in the 64th minute. Den Watson showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jack Trotter, who was totally free with the ball in the 65th minute. Jake Dowrick charged in rather forcefully in the 66th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Jake Dowrick the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of Canvey Island booed when Thirsk was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 67 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jake Dowrick didn't get a good kick on the ball.
