Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) The field was rather wet after several days of rain when Don Tisdale took the kick off in the first half of the match. In the 5th minute Don Tisdale shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Derek Atkinson saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. With 7 minutes on the clock, Norman Burton commited a dangerous tackle. The referee had no choice but to show him the red card. In the 6th minute, one of Black Universe:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Black Universe. Derek Atkinson had in the 9thth minute some difficulties stopping Will Blair's well aimed penalty as it nearly passed him on his left side, but he still managed to hold the ball. 9 minutes into the game, Will Blair cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-0. Derek Atkinson was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. 11 minutes into the game, Eastbourne Rovers's Dave Hargraves nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Derek Atkinson made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-0. Derek Atkinson didn't succeed in stopping the ball in the 18th minute, which inside left pole to 3-0. Lenny Halliday fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 21st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Sonny Pack having to interfere. Black Universe's Derek Atkinson proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 23rd minute of the match, managed to save Black Universe from getting a goal against them. Derek Atkinson made an important save on a dangerous shot by Allan Collier in the 28th minute. The crowd rose to their feet as Dave Hargraves kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Derek Atkinson. That made the score 4-0 in the 30 minute of play. Thanks to some nice moves Dave Hargraves could shoot a difficult shot in the 33rd minute, which Derek Atkinson however easily saved by the left post. Derek Atkinson made an important save on a dangerous shot by Allan Collier in the 38th minute. After a rather tough play, Eastbourne Rovers's Darren Cousens got a free kick in the 44th minute. In the 46th minute, Kris Cornforth hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Af the end of the first half the score was 4-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Lenny Halliday stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. When Callum Swain fell near the penalty area in the 52nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Black Universe's protests and gave Callum Swain a yellow card for diving instead. After 52 played minutes Black Universe got a freekick which was hit by Callum Swain. 58 minutes into the match, Dave Hargraves notched a goal, 5-0, to the right of Black Universe's Derek Atkinson. Derek Atkinson was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. An unexpectedly hard shot by Don Tisdale in the 63rd minute of play forced Black Universe's goalkeeper Derek Atkinson to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Derek Atkinson showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Allan Collier in the 64th minute of the match. 66 minutes into the match, Black Universe's goal looked a bit too open when Don Tisdale came free, but Derek Atkinson reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 70 minutes into the game, Dave Hargraves was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Eastbourne Rovers's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Black Universe the free kick. Black Universe made a substitution. Liam Collier replaced Kris Cornforth. A collision led to Eastbourne Rovers getting a freekick after 71 minutes play. Dave Hargraves hit a great ball. 72 minutes into the game, Will Blair was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Eastbourne Rovers's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Black Universe the free kick. The supporters of Eastbourne Rovers booed when Black Universe was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 76 match minutes in a wonderful position. Liam Collier didn't get a good kick on the ball. After having played for 78 minutes, Lenny Halliday managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Black Universe's supporters crossed their fingers, but Lenny Halliday was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Lenny Halliday fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 81st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Sonny Pack having to interfere. In the 82nd match minute, Eastbourne Rovers was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Stefan Longthorn to maneuver through the defense. An unexpectedly hard shot by Allan Collier in the 85th minute of play forced Black Universe's goalkeeper Derek Atkinson to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Callum Swain hit a great freekick 86 minutes into the match. Allan Collier received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 96th minute. Derek Atkinson tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere.
