After having played for 30 minutes, Calvin Walls managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Winchester FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Calvin Walls was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 32 minutes into the game, Bobby Walker cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-1. Sonny Pack was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. With a little luck, Winchester FC's Seth Talbot got control of the ball when Allan Collier tried to sneak it across the goal line. Winchester FC were furious when Jamie Turnbull was red carded, 41 minutes into the game, but the referee dismissed their protests. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 41st minute of the game. One of Winchester FC:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Eastbourne Rovers:s goal. The goalkeeper, Seth Talbot, was totally fooled by Eastbourne Rovers's Will Blair, who 44 minutes into the game made a penalty shot that went in on the goalkeeper's left side. Seth Talbot made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Don Tisdale in the 48th minute of play. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 2-2 after a close first half.

Sonny Pack stood somewhat misplaced when Bobby Walker came free in front of goal and shot 2-3 to the left of him in the 54 minute. Sonny Pack breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Dom Partridge received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 70th minute. Don Tisdale might have been able to make a better finish in the 72nd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Seth Talbot. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out.
