After some careless play in the Alsager AFC defense, Don Tisdale kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Liam Dwyer. The Alsager AFC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Liam Dwyer should have stopped the shot. 13 minutes into the match, Alsager AFC's goal looked a bit too open when Don Tisdale came free, but Liam Dwyer reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 15 minutes into the match, Alsager AFC's goal looked a bit too open when Allan Collier came free, but Liam Dwyer reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. With his leg Sonny Pack managed to avoid a goal in the 28thth minute, when Alsager AFC's Les Newby fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Liam Dwyer showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Don Tisdale, who was totally free with the ball in the 31st minute. Don Tisdale received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 40th minute. Liam Dwyer tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Don Tisdale took the ball and in the 44 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Liam Dwyer. Liam Dwyer dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-2. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Darren Cousens took the ball and in the 51 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Liam Dwyer. Liam Dwyer dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-3. After a defensive mix-up in Alsager AFC's zone, Allan Collier stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Liam Dwyer came out of the goal and Allan Collier tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Liam Dwyer made an important save on a dangerous shot by Allan Collier in the 59th minute. In the 61st minute, Camron Beesley hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 62nd minute of the match Will Blair shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Liam Dwyer showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. 65 minutes into the match, Les Newby had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Sonny Pack. Eastbourne Rovers's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Les Newby was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-3. Darryl Jefferies hit a great freekick 68 minutes into the match. Allan Collier could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 73rd minute of the match, but Liam Dwyer made a huge save. After having played for 83 minutes, Ryan Bakewell managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Alsager AFC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Ryan Bakewell was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. If Les Newby had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 87th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Allan Collier's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 93rdth minute, Liam Dwyer skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. In the 94th match minute, Eastbourne Rovers was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Will Blair to maneuver through the defense.
