Derek Brindley sent away a hard shot on goal in the 37th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Don Tisdale fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 39th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Nicky Bensley having to interfere. After 42 minutes Carlin How Unite's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Will Blair who took care of the corner kick. Darren Cousens hit a great freekick 44 minutes into the match. Sonny Pack made an important save on a dangerous shot by Steven Bensley in the 46th minute. The score stood at 0-0 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.
When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Don Tisdale made a kick off. Sonny Pack showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Huey Dawson in the 60th minute of the match. 61 minutes into the game, Luke Brearley was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Carlin How Unite's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Eastbourne Rovers the free kick.
