Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000,
Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) Jeff Brighton started the match with the kick off in front of an excited audience. The supporters of Renton United booed when Chelsea was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 2 match minutes in a wonderful position. Dylon Kershaw didn't get a good kick on the ball. Jordan Blackwood took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Jeff Brighton, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 11 minutes into the match, Jeff Brighton had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Jordan Blackwood. Renton United's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Jeff Brighton was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. A collision led to Chelsea getting a freekick after 14 minutes play. Orson Larham hit a great ball. When Renton United's Wesley Mortimer in the 19th minute got a chance for a shot 19th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Chelsea's goalie prevented a goal. Fred Toovey scored 1-1 in the 24th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Beinn Meadowcroft, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. After some fancy dribbling in the 29th minute, Wesley Mortimer managed to get in a good position for a shot. Renton United's supporters rose to their feet, but Wesley Mortimer was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Beinn Meadowcroft breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Fred Toovey recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 31st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. If Fred Toovey had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 32nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Wesley Mortimer received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 34th minute. Beinn Meadowcroft tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Norman Burns lost his temper 40 minutes into the game and shoved another player to the ground. He was immediately shown a red card. The referee gave Chelsea a penalty, 42 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Reggie Stewart, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Renton United's Jordan Blackwood. 1-2. After a defensive mix-up in Chelsea's zone, Fred Toovey stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Beinn Meadowcroft came out of the goal and Fred Toovey tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Conal Windsor fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 48th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Beinn Meadowcroft having to interfere. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 1-2 lead.
The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Conal Windsor was the one to do the kick off. In the 53rd minute Grant Duff shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Beinn Meadowcroft saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. A collision led to Renton United getting a freekick after 56 minutes play. Fred Toovey hit a great ball. Jeff Brighton sent away a hard shot on goal in the 60th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Jordan Blackwood showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jeff Brighton, who was totally free with the ball in the 63rd minute. Jordan Blackwood made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jeff Brighton in the 67th minute of play. When the match had gone on for 70 minutes, Reggie Stewart took a quick shot and it went in 1-3 without a chance for Jordan Blackwood to make any attempt to save it. When Fred Toovey fell near the penalty area in the 72nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Renton United's protests and gave Fred Toovey a yellow card for diving instead. After a rather tough play, Renton United's Fred Toovey got a free kick in the 73rd minute. Eric Speight's late challenge caught a Renton United's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Eric Speight helped the player get up and apologised. 90 minutes into the match, Renton United's goal looked a bit too open when Jeff Brighton came free, but Jordan Blackwood reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Fred Toovey had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 92nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The Chelsea players were relieved to hear the final whistle blow to end the match. The away crowd was happy to see their team win after a very tight game.
