After a rather tough play, Chelsea's Eric Speight got a free kick in the 8th minute. Sid Merris blasted a shot towards the goal in the 9th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Beinn Meadowcroft having to make a save. After having played for 12 minutes, Conal Windsor managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Renton United's supporters crossed their fingers, but Conal Windsor was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Beinn Meadowcroft didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Conal Windsor went, in the 15th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-2 was the resulting score. After 18 played minutes Renton United got a freekick which was hit by Wesley Mortimer. Jordan Blackwood made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jeff Brighton in the 21st minute of play. After some careless play in the Chelsea defense, Wesley Mortimer kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Beinn Meadowcroft. The Chelsea fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Beinn Meadowcroft should have stopped the shot. A collision led to Chelsea getting a freekick after 27 minutes play. Reggie Stewart hit a great ball. In the 29th minute Wesley Mortimer shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Beinn Meadowcroft saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Chelsea's Jeff Brighton got a good chance for a goal in the 31st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Jeff Brighton sent away a hard shot on goal in the 37th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Eric Speight struck a weak shot in the 41st minute. Jordan Blackwood didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Chelsea.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Wesley Mortimer made a kick off. In the 51st minute, Conal Windsor hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 54th minute, Wesley Mortimer reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Beinn Meadowcroft. The goal made the score 1-4. It was beautiful to see Chelsea's Christian England in action when he in the 59th minute dribbled his way through a couple of opponents and the fired away a shot from almost standing still. First the ball seemed to get in, but turned out to be on the outside of the net. A great chance! Reggie Stewart might have been able to make a better finish in the 66th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Jordan Blackwood. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Reggie Stewart ran back to his position shaking his head. Jordan Blackwood didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Jeff Brighton went, in the 68th minute, to the upper right corner, 2-4 was the resulting score. 73 minutes into the match, Chelsea's goal looked a bit too open when Wesley Mortimer came free, but Beinn Meadowcroft reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Jay Peat hit a great freekick 90 minutes into the match. After 91 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Renton United! The referee gave Chelsea a penalty, 93 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Reggie Stewart, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Renton United's Jordan Blackwood. 3-4. Renton United's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
