Timothy Gough made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. Ray Alsop struck a weak shot in the 12th minute. Timothy Gough didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Machiavellian. In the 14th minute Walter Castledine shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Timothy Gough saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Timothy Gough didn't succeed to prevent the ball from going into goal when Machiavellian's Walter Castledine shot an unexpected shot in the crossbar's under edge and made 0-2 in the ordered_time% minute. Johnny Brooke showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Alan Rockett, who was totally free with the ball in the 20th minute. After having played for 25 minutes, Nathan Stamer managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Newport City's supporters crossed their fingers, but Nathan Stamer was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Walter Castledine in the 37th minute of play forced Newport City's goalkeeper Timothy Gough to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Walter Castledine took the ball and in the 39 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Timothy Gough. Timothy Gough dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-3. Johnny Brooke made an important save on a dangerous shot by Nathan Stamer in the 45th minute. Machiavellian's Walter Castledine got a good chance for a goal in the 47th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-3.

The wind increased when Walter Castledine made the kick off in the second half. In the 61st minute, Nathan Stamer got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Johnny Brooke showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Alan Rockett in the 62nd minute of the match. Newport City's Timothy Gough played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Walter Castledine in the 64th minute of play. Ozzy Lampard hit a great freekick 67 minutes into the match. After a rather tough play, Machiavellian's Shawn Sutton got a free kick in the 69th minute. If Alan Rockett had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 70th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Shawn Sutton's late challenge caught a Newport City's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Shawn Sutton helped the player get up and apologised. In the 72nd match minute, Machiavellian was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Shawn Sutton to maneuver through the defense. Timothy Gough came out of the goal in the 75th minute to try and stop a shot by Machiavellian's Ray Alsop. But to his dismay, Ray Alsop quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-4. From close distance Ray Alsop pressed in the 0-5 goal high up into nets stiches in the right cross 81 minutes into the game. Walter Castledine received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 85th minute. Timothy Gough tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Ray Alsop fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 91st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Timothy Gough having to interfere. Alan Rockett fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 94th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Johnny Brooke having to interfere. When the final whistle sounded Machiavellian left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than Newport City.
