An unexpectedly hard shot by Walter Castledine in the 15th minute of play forced The Hungry Toads's goalkeeper Brandon Connor to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Shawn Sutton was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 29th minute. Machiavellian's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. After some careless play in the Machiavellian defense, Martin Snowdon kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Johnny Brooke. The Machiavellian fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Johnny Brooke should have stopped the shot. The Hungry Toads's Brandon Connor played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Walter Castledine in the 36th minute of play. 37 minutes into the game, Machiavellian's Ray Alsop nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Brandon Connor made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 3-1. After 40 played minutes Machiavellian got a freekick which was hit by Ray Alsop. After a rather tough play, Machiavellian's Ozzy Lampard got a free kick in the 41st minute. 46 minutes into the game, Shawn Sutton was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Machiavellian's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave The Hungry Toads the free kick. Brandon Connor took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ray Alsop, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Machiavellian's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
