Manchester Devils's Dominik Hunter played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Nathan Stamer in the 26th minute of play. In the 28th minute Nathan Stamer shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dominik Hunter saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Alan Rockett might have been able to make a better finish in the 37th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Dominik Hunter. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Alan Rockett ran back to his position shaking his head. Nathan Stamer received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 38th minute. Dominik Hunter tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Rodney Gray hit a great freekick 42 minutes into the match. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 0-0 after a close first half.

The wind increased when Alan Rockett made the kick off in the second half. Timothy Gough showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Richie Ripley, who was totally free with the ball in the 54th minute. In the 67th minute the ball was on its way in behind Manchester Devils's goalkeeper Dominik Hunter, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. After some careless play in the Newport City defense, Bart Lappin kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Timothy Gough. The Newport City fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Timothy Gough should have stopped the shot. Manchester Devils's Dominik Hunter played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Alan Rockett in the 89th minute of play. Newport City's Alan Rockett got a good chance for a goal in the 93rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Manchester Devils's supporters were highly satisfied with the result. They cheered their team of the pitch, having watched them win a very even match.
