After having played for 2 minutes, David Donnelly managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. South Lawn FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but David Donnelly was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Chris Pilgrim in the 8th minute of play forced Legia's goalkeeper Trev Fitter to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 10thth minute of the game Chris Pilgrim who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Legia's Trev Fitter was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. David Donnelly struck a weak shot in the 15th minute. Trev Fitter didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for South Lawn FC. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Chris Pilgrim in the 18th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Trev Fitter saved Legia from getting behind. Chris Pilgrim sent away a hard shot on goal in the 22nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 23 minutes, Chris Pilgrim made it 0-1 with a short kick to the right side. Legia's Trev Fitter tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. Chris Pilgrim received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 28th minute. Trev Fitter tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 31st minute Chris Pilgrim shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Trev Fitter saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The South Lawn FC fans' excitement grew in the 35th match minute when South Lawn FC's Chris Pilgrim looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 0-2 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. After having played for 40 minutes, David Donnelly managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. South Lawn FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but David Donnelly was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Disappointed in the 0-2 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

After 52 played minutes South Lawn FC got a freekick which was hit by Kristian Robins. Trev Fitter showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Chris Pilgrim, who was totally free with the ball in the 55th minute. A collision led to Legia getting a freekick after 60 minutes play. Alf Gunn hit a great ball. Chris Pilgrim received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Trev Fitter came out and tried to block the shot, but Chris Pilgrim slotted it home off the left post making it 0-3 in the 65th minute. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Chris Pilgrim in the 68th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Trev Fitter saved Legia from getting behind. After having played for 70 minutes, David Donnelly managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. South Lawn FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but David Donnelly was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Legia's Trev Fitter proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 72nd minute of the match, managed to save Legia from getting a goal against them. Chris Pilgrim might have been able to make a better finish in the 73rd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Trev Fitter. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Chris Pilgrim ran back to his position shaking his head. 74 minutes into the game, Alf Gunn was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Legia's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave South Lawn FC the free kick. The supporters of South Lawn FC booed when Legia was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 74 match minutes in a wonderful position. Alf Gunn didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 78th minute, Michael Wardle hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Ty King shot from long distance in the 78th minute, but Trev Fitter was prepared and stopped the ball at the left post. Rex Bullard charged in rather forcefully in the 82nd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Rex Bullard the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After a rather tough play, South Lawn FC's Rex Bullard got a free kick in the 82nd minute. After 84 minutes of play, Legia's CJ Brady made it 1-3 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Seth Piercy was left in no man's land by his defense there! The audience thought a goal was coming when David Donnelly got free with Trev Fitter in the 87th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Chris Pilgrim was extremely unlucky when he, in the 89th minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. A collision led to South Lawn FC getting a freekick after 94 minutes play. Kristian Robins hit a great ball. Brendon Coton, 95 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. When the final whistle sounded South Lawn FC left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than Legia.
