With a left leg Tod Ingram saved Wirral Town FC from getting behind. 35 minutes into the match, Wirral Town FC's Stewart Probert sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Martin Wilson narrowly saved just below the crossbar. After a rather tough play, Southampton's Nat Langsford got a free kick in the 41st minute. Af the end of the first half the score was 3-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Nat Langsford to strike the kick off in the second half. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 68th minute, Gareth Milligan hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field.
