Kevin Watson made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Joe Whalley in the 7th minute of play. After 7 minutes of play, Theale AVFC's Joe Whalley made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Kevin Watson was left in no man's land by his defense there! In the 10th minute the ball was on its way in behind Theale AVFC's goalkeeper Bernie Lucas, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. When Rod Younger fell near the penalty area in the 12th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Exeter's protests and gave Rod Younger a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Exeter getting a freekick after 12 minutes play. Rod Younger hit a great ball. When Joe Whalley came up free with the goalie in the 13th minute, the Theale AVFC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Joe Whalley couldn't finish the play. 15 minutes into the game, Joe Whalley cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-2. Kevin Watson was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. In the 21st minute, Oliver Santos got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Lewis Rigg struck a weak shot in the 24th minute. Bernie Lucas didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Exeter. Karl Weedon kicked well hit freekick during the 28th minute of the match. Joey Scholey took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 29th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Kevin Watson. Exeter's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Kurt Waller kicked well hit freekick during the 39th minute of the match. The supporters of Exeter booed when Theale AVFC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 44 match minutes in a wonderful position. Nick Lawless didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 45th minute of the match, Stan Cain tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Bernie Lucas saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Stan Cain made a kick off. If Lewis Rigg had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 56th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When the match had gone on for 58 minutes, Stan Cain put it in 1-2 from a short distance just to the right of Bernie Lucas. Kevin Watson showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Joe Whalley in the 62nd minute of the match. Joe Whalley received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 65th minute. Kevin Watson tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Theale AVFC's Oliver Santos got a good chance for a goal in the 67th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 74th match minute, Theale AVFC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Joe Whalley to maneuver through the defense. When Lewis Rigg came up free with the goalie in the 75th minute, the Exeter fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Lewis Rigg couldn't finish the play. Kevin Watson stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Joe Whalley's shot from short distance in the 77th minute. With a little luck, Exeter's Kevin Watson got control of the ball when Oliver Santos tried to sneak it across the goal line. Stan Cain received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 87th minute. Bernie Lucas tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Theale AVFC's supporters were very happy and cheered loudly because their team had won after a very close match.
